Our research interests span seven key areas: Wireless Sensor Networks, Optical Communications, Design Methodologies & Rapid Prototyping, Next Generation Networks, Bio-inspired Advanced IT, Automotive Systems, and Low Power Mobile Architecture. Faculty members, researchers and graduate students are from a diverse and international background with an excellent repertoire. CAST is seeking highly motivated PhDs, both fresh and experienced, in the field of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. We are looking for researchers with interest in but not limited to the above mentioned areas. We have position for up to 20 PhDs and applications will be solicited until these posts are filled.
The ideal candidates will be researchers willing to work in a dynamic environment, where they can join existing R&D projects or initiate new ones. They should be prepared to make novel contribution to their field of interest. CAST is still a relatively new research center and hence provides an excellent opportunity for researchers with vision and initiative.

Requirements
PhD degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Applicants who will be completing their doctorates in the next six months are also encouraged to apply.

Excellent problem solver with self-initiative.
Well focused and dedicated.
Able to communicate technically in areas outside field of expertise.
Willing to mentor fresh researchers.
Fluency in spoken and written English is also required

02 Position for Lecturers/ Researchers
The Center for Advanced Studies in Telecommunication (CAST) at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Park Road Chak Shahzad, Islamabad calls for applications to two PhD Student Positions in the field of Ultra Wideband (UWB) Communication and Automotives.
CAST consists of seven dynamic research groups. Faculty members, researchers and graduate students are from a diverse and international background with an excellent repertoire.
Applicants should hold MSc, or equivalent academic degree, in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or related discipline, with previous experience in UWB and Automotives.
Fluency in spoken and written English is also required.
Successful applicant will be prepared to make novel contributions to the field and is expected to present and publish in peer-reviewed conferences and journals. Internships at international universities or research institutions can be arranged in the course of the PhD research project.
The positions can be awarded for a period of up to four years, and will include 25% teaching/administrative duties.
The positions are remunerated according to Higher Education Commission (HEC) salary levels in the national salary scheme.

07 Positions for Research Associates:The Center for Advanced Studies in Telecommunication (CAST) at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Park Road Chak Shahzad, Islamabad calls for applications to Research Associate Positions in its seven dynamic research groups.
Research Groups at CAST are working in Software Define Radio (SDR), WiMAX technologies, GSM, Ultra Wide Band Imaging, Geographical Information System, Next Generation Networks, Bio-inspired Adv. IT, and Low Power Mobile Architecture. There are more than 13 international linkages, where CAST researchers are pursuing their Phds, MS and technical trainings. These linkages also include industrial giants as NOKIA (Finland), Infinion (Germany), Microsoft (Seattle) and Ericson (Sweden).
